Palm Beach Gardens, FL – July 11, 2017…Two impassioned young women, whose lives had been touched by cancer, wanted to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. They considered how they could help and launched “Coconuts for Cancer,” an organization committed to raising money for cancer research and helping cancer patients. The young women personally make various products from coconuts and then sell them; the sales proceeds go to benefiting cancer research and patients. Last week, the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation was the recipient of such funds, derived from the dedication of Callie Goolgasian and Sabrina D’Agostino, the teenage co-founders of Coconuts for Cancer. Callie and Sabrina presented the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation (FCSF) with a donation check of $637 at the Florida Cancer Specialists clinic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The donation will benefit individuals who are undergoing treatment for cancer and need assistance paying their essential, non-medical living expenses, such as car payments, rent or mortgage and utilities.
“Delivering this check benefits the growth of our business because we get to see the money go in good hands and witness the direct impact that our organization has on others,” said, Callie. “Coconuts for Cancer’s goal is to raise awareness for the fight against cancer by offering coconut products to not only satisfy our customers, but also to participate in the battle against cancer.” Sabrina added, “We are two teens who have both been affected by the destruction that cancer causes and we are working towards a goal to raise awareness by making coconut products! Our products are all natural and homemade by us!”
Foundation Board Chair and FCS CEO Brad Prechtl said, “It is so encouraging to see these two young women raising money to help cancer patients in need. Their generosity represents the highest values of our younger generation, and it also reminds us of how this devastating disease can affect all members of a family, not only emotionally, but also financially.”
Lynn Rasys, Executive Director of the FCS Foundation added, “The Foundation is grateful to Cancer for Coconuts and its young co-founders, whose creativity and dedication to fighting cancer is inspiring. It is heartwarming to see young adults working so hard for a cause and making a difference in their community.”
