Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation Hosted Wine, Women & Shoes

Fort Myers, FL – November 5th, 2018…On October 19th, 2018, the Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) Foundation hosted the inaugural Wine, Women & Shoes (WWS) Sanibel at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort. Chaired by Janet Brune and Honorary Co-Chairs, FCS physicians Drs. Faithlore Gardner and Rebecca Kosloff and raised $104,000 net to help adult cancer patients with their necessary living expenses. A portion of the proceeds from WWS Sanibel will be donated to the Cancer Alliance of Naples (CAN).

Wine Women & Shoes is the fastest-growing charity event series created for and by women in the United States. Since its inception, these major annual fundraisers – held in more than 20 markets across the country – have raised over $50,000,000 for charitable causes nationally.

The Foundation’s Wine Women & Shoes event had a “Girls’ Day Out” theme that featured a marketplace of boutique “storefronts,” where attendees could shop for shoes, jewelry and other fashion accessories while sampling wines from across the country. Guests enjoyed a live and silent auction, a photo shoot area, a fashion show by Petunias of Naples and a fun, spirited “Key to the Closet” raffle to win a closet full of fashion accessories and gift certificates.

All proceeds benefited the FCS Foundation, which provides financial assistance for non-medical living expenses to qualified cancer patients who are currently undergoing treatment in Florida. The FCS Foundation’s overhead is paid by the Florida Cancer Specialists’ physician partners, so 100% of donations benefit cancer patients in need.

Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation Board Member and Treasurer Tom Uhler said, “Wine, Women and Shoes is one of the premiere charity events in the nation. We hope that in addition to raising funds, we raised awareness of the Foundation’s mission, which is to assist cancer patients with essential non-medical living expenses.”

When asked about their role as Honorary Co-Chairs, Dr.  Faithlore Gardner and Dr. Rebecca Kosloff added, “We are grateful that we had the opportunity to serve as the Honorary Co-Chairs of an event that raises money to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families affected by cancer. As oncologists, we see the impact cancer has on patients and their families.”

Foundation Executive Director Lynn Rasys said, “Wine Women & Shoes is about friends coming together for a day of fashion, fun and shopping while raising funds for cancer patients in need – the FCS Foundation cannot wait until the next event!”
