Lakewood Ranch, Fla., Sept. 17, 2020 — The Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) Foundation Board welcomes Tom Kidd of Daytona Beach, Florida as their newest member.
Kidd is the founder and CEO of the Joan L. Kidd, MD Fight for Life Continuum, an initiative he established in 2016 to enhance the quality of life for terminal cancer patients. His efforts have been inspired by his late wife, Joan L. Kidd, MD, a respected internal medicine and family medicine physician. Kidd was her caregiver and health care advocate throughout her nearly three- year journey with ovarian cancer, which he calls his “greatest and most profound achievement.”
Earlier this year, he launched the Joan L. Kidd, MD Fight for Life Concert Series, which raises funds to benefit cancer patients, and established the Joan L. Kidd, MD Memorial Fund in partnership with the FCS Foundation. All proceeds from the sales of Kidd’s e-book, “All the Way,” a memoir reflecting on the couple’s life together and their cancer journey, will be donated to the FCS Foundation to seed the Fund on an ongoing basis and provide grants to cancer patients in need. Tom has also committed to match the first $10,000 of book sales. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of National Association of Healthcare Advocates and a member of the National Care Planning Council.
Kidd will lend his business acumen and his passion for enhancing the lives of those with cancer in support of the FCS Foundation’s mission. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded nearly $7 million in grants to cancer patients in need throughout Florida.
Prior to his retirement, Kidd’s business career spanned real estate, banking and family farming. He served as CEO and on the boards of directors of two mid-size public holding companies and guided multiple mergers and acquisitions. He has competed as a professional golfer in two US Senior Open qualifiers and is currently eligible for the 2021 National Senior Games in Fort Lauderdale. He has been directly involved in the creation, development and execution of over 75 major golf events, including national television broadcasts. He earned a Congressional appointment to West Point, and later attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and studied law and economics at Albemarle College in North Carolina. A U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, he is the recipient of the Meritorious Service Commendation.
“Tom has been tireless with his efforts to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients. We are grateful for his willingness to serve in this leadership role with us,” said Dr. Michael Diaz, FCS Foundation Board chairman.
FCS Foundation Executive Director Lynn Rasys added,” Tom continues to serve as an inspiration to those battling cancer and their families, and look forward to his involvement as a member of our Board.”

About Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation:
The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation (FCSF) provides financial support to qualified adult cancer patients in the state of Florida for expenses such as rent or mortgage, car payments and utility bills. By giving patients peace of mind in knowing that their bills are being paid while they are undergoing treatment, the FCS Foundation allows them to concentrate on what really matters – fighting cancer.
Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists physicians in covering all overhead expenses for the Foundation, 100% of donations received go directly toward paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
The Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization located at 5958 Silver Falls Run, Suite 210 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34211. Learn more about the FCS Foundation at: FCSF.org or call (941) 677.7181.
